The Syrian National Symphony Orchestra, led by Maestro Misak Baghboudrian, concluded the celebration of “Syrian Culture Days” through a classical musical evening hosted by the Opera Theater at Dar Al-Assad for Culture and Arts in Damascus.
Soloists participated in the evening, the able musician Hamsa Al Wadi on the piano and the musician Abdullah Shehadeh on the Law. The second of the evening, the band performed musical pieces by the great Syrian composer, Nuri al-Rahibani, “Arab symphonic dances,” which included music for the songs “Rising from her father’s house, my country, oh my country, oh Ghazil, Hilalia and Bint al-Shalabiya.” The Syrian symphony paid tribute to the soul of the late great artist Sabah Fakhri for his song “The bachelorhood took me over.” .
In the third part of the evening, the concert, accompanied by the instrumentalist Abdullah Shehadeh, performed two musical pieces composed and arranged by Narek Abjian, entitled “Kif” and “Bab Touma” from the “Seven Doors” project.
It is noteworthy that the Wadi musician studied at the Arab Institute of Music, which was founded by her late father, to obtain a master’s and doctorate from the Konstwar Tchaikovsky in Moscow, and she is currently studying piano at the University of Arts in the Finnish capital Helsinki, where she resides. Shehadeh is the owner of a unique project on the Qanun instrument, where he presented many evenings of solo playing, in addition to his participation in international music festivals. He is skilled in composing and writing lyrical poems. Through his own band, he evokes the experience of quartets and trios in an interview with electronic instruments and keyboard instruments, and he released an album entitled “The Gates.” The Seven” was given to him by the city of Damascus.
