(CNN Spanish) -

The United States Department of State announced on Tuesday visa restrictions against nine Cuban officials, whom it points out of repression during the peaceful demonstrations on November 15 on the island.

The State Department indicated through a statement that among the sanctioned officials there are high-ranking members linked to the Ministry of the Interior of that country.

The document indicates that they are supposedly "involved in attempts to silence the voices of the Cuban people through repression and unjust detentions."

Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez rejected the United States' decision through a message on his Twitter account on Tuesday.

“The United States persists in (the) error of assuming that our government would allow it to provoke social destabilization in Cuba.

It is a right and a duty to safeguard sovereign prerogatives and reject foreign interference.

The hostile measures announced today do not alter that determination ”.
