The ruling African National Congress in South Africa organized today a solidarity event with the Palestinian people in the capital, Pretoria, to emphasize the right of the Palestinians to live in freedom and peace.
According to Wafa, the participants in the event, which came within the framework of the activities of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, stressed their support for the positions of their country’s government rejecting the violations and crimes committed by “Israel” against the Palestinians.
In a speech at the Embassy of Palestine, First Secretary Bassam Al-Husseini thanked the South African government and people for their support for the Palestinian people and their rights, calling for the isolation of the Israeli apartheid regime internationally and regionally.
In a related context, the Palestinian Embassy in South Africa, in cooperation with the South African Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Culture and Sports, some civil society organizations, the Robben Island Museum and the African Veteran Prisoners Foundation, organized a solidarity event with Palestinian prisoners in Israeli occupation detention.
The Palestinian ambassador, Hanan Jarrar, called on the international community to stand up to its responsibilities and to intervene immediately to release all prisoners in Israeli occupation prisons.
