The Magistrate's Court in Haifa will hold a hearing today (Tuesday) in the case of Edward Katzura, the suspect in the murder of the girl Little Yael Melnik.

This, after the city district court ordered his detention, contrary to the decision of the justice of the peace, who released Katzura claiming that the opinion of the Institute of Forensic Medicine was not unequivocal, and that recent investigative actions had not clarified the occurrence.

However, the release was delayed by 24 hours, and the police filed an appeal on the matter.

"I come with a tense expectation that what we want will happen, and that God forbid the play of yesterday will not return with a release that should then be turned in another court, I am afraid," said Ruth Melnik, Yael's sister.

"The hearing is taking place before the same judge, hopefully you will not make the same mistake. We are all afraid and also exhausted. We have no choice but to trust the police, the prosecution and the court."

The Haifa District Attorney convened a crucial meeting this morning in the case between the prosecution in the State Attorney's Office and the investigators of the Central District of the Coast District in order to reach a decision on the filing of an indictment.

A senior official involved in the case told Walla!

Because the reasoned decision of the president of the Haifa District Court strengthened the hesitant elements in the prosecution, who are in favor of filing an indictment against him for the murder of Melnik.

The Coastal Prosecutor's Office requested that Katzura's detention be extended by four days. State Attorney Amit Eisman met with the prosecution staff during the day. .

Earlier, Ruth, Yael's sister, was interviewed by 103FM and said that if the court does not sentence her to life imprisonment, her family will not accept it. "I hope he sits in jail all his life, if not, I will not accept it. Police say there is actual evidence that he murdered her. We are crushed but our little war is that her killer will sit in jail all his life. We need to be strong for my sister."

Melnik claimed that his release was due to a purely technical interest, due to the need to extend his detention while the investigation is ongoing. "They did not see how the investigation would end at this time so in my opinion that is why they decided to release him."

Melnik claims that "there is real evidence that he murdered my sister. Also yesterday the judge, the district president who accepted the appeal, said things we had never heard in any hearing. "In a psychiatric hospital, she was there to exploit girls in such a situation, in a bad situation."
