The Nir Galim House of Holocaust Testimony Museum is working on a project that will allow visitors to tour the Auschwitz and Birkenau extermination camps using virtual reality technology.

The Holocaust Museum The Nir Galim community center is working on an extraordinary project, in which the visitors will tour the Auschwitz and Birkenau extermination camps with the help of advanced virtual reality technology.

At the same time, they will listen to the testimony of Holocaust survivors through holograms.

The goal: to give visitors the closest experience to visiting the camps themselves, and to serve as a substitute for those who are unable to visit Poland.

The initiative was born in the shadow of the corona and in light of the age of Holocaust survivors and the fact that they are dwindling.

"We realized that following the Corona, there would be no trips to Poland on a scale of the past, and we decided to take a virtual reality tour of Auschwitz and Birkenau, which includes professional training as if they were touring there themselves," explained the director of the House of Testimony Museum, Rachel Rozman-Ofer. It is an animation or sitting in front of a computer, but a tour inside a room, where you can see the place almost as if the person is there himself.

We want to give visitors the closest experience to reality. "

Photographs were recently taken at the extermination camps, and the materials are now being edited.

The museum hopes to operate the new complex by the end of the month.

Another room in the museum will accurately resemble a hut in Birkenau.

"Holocaust survivors who entered the hut were in the market, saying that's what it looked like."

In the hologram room, visitors will be exposed to the testimonies of Holocaust survivors in the closest way.
