A shocked family celebrated the "return of the dead" of the family hamster - 17 months after everyone was sure he had been eaten by their bitch.
Elspeth Gold, from Larkhall in southern Lancashire, Scotland, suspected the family hamster Pablo was eaten by Lucy, a Springer Spaniel bitch, after not finding him for months.
She assumed the two-year-old hamster was dead, and even dumped his cage after he disappeared in June 2020. The
family was left in shock when Pablo, slightly bruised, suddenly appeared at home earlier last month as if nothing had happened.
According to the Daily Record, he was seen running in the family kitchen, when no one believed they had not heard from him before.
Elspeth said she had never heard of a hamster that disappeared for so long and was later found alive and she estimated that he survived eating the dog food they left in the kitchen for Lucy.

In a conversation with the Daily Record Elspeth said Pablo was a birthday present her 12-year-old daughter received and he was with her for about a year until he disappeared: "I blamed the dog who ate him.
