The creations of a group of talented children made their way to be published in a short story collection, whose signing ceremony was hosted today by the Palace of Culture in the city of As-Suwayda.

The group entitled “Little Pens” was printed by the Department of Ecumenical Relations and Development in the Patriarchate of Antioch and All the East for the Greek Orthodox within a picture book of 32 pages from the center pieces, which included nine stories written by six talented children aged between 9 and 14 years, they are Marwa Al-Zalli and Sham Al-Kuntar Aws Naim, Maya Abu Ahmed, Tala Shukair and Anas Al-Adimi as the product of a training workshop for a group of children.

Coordinator of the Department of Ecumenical Relations and Development, Dala’ Al-Azar, stated that the idea began with the Department’s Social Welfare Center in cooperation with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, where a training workshop was implemented six months ago to probe what is inside each child in order to be creative in his own way. life and increase their self-confidence in the hope that they will be a project of great writers in the future.

Coordinator of the As-Suwayda region in the Department of Ecumenical Relations and Development, Raghda Al-Ashhab, pointed out that the event seeks to enhance the role of writers, reading and creativity in this generation in light of the dominance of the Internet.

The volunteer in the Department of Child Protection and Psychological Support in the Department of Ecumenical Relations and Development, Nagham Al-Mahtawi, stated that children were targeted with focus groups at first and then with awareness sessions, in order to finally select a group of children who are best able to write the story while preserving the child’s imprint in it.

Rabea Naim, the father of the child Aws, pointed out that his son’s first experience in writing, and that printing the story he composed and receiving all this support and attention creates a greater incentive for him and encourages him to strive, learn and write more.

The child Maya Abu Ahmed found that the opportunity presented by the department represented a first step on her way to writing, hoping to develop her skills and culture in the future.
