Homs-Sana
Various paintings and art pieces made of beads and resin included in the annual exhibition of handicrafts made by inmates of Homs Central Prison.
The exhibition, which was held on the occasion of the celebration of “Syrian Culture Days” and organized by the Homs Governorate Police Command in cooperation with the Directorate of Culture, included a wide variety of handicrafts made with the participation of a large number of prison inmates and concluded with the distribution of 150 books bearing different titles presented by the Ministry of Culture.
Homs Police Commander Major General Abdo Karam said in a statement to SANA that the exhibition is part of the activities aimed at rehabilitating prisoners and enhancing their communication with the community and filling their free time with something that brings material and moral benefit to them. The number of participating prisoners increases every year with desire and self-motivation, which is considered a glimmer of hope for them in preparation for the start of a new life, noting that the proceeds of the exhibition go back to the prison inmates.
A number of participants in the exhibition indicated that the Homs Central Prison administration's encouragement for them to manufacture these handicrafts and provide support was positively reflected on the level of their craft in making these products.
