Betar Jerusalem is furious: "Shame and disgrace all that went on in Doha" | Israel Today

2021-12-01T06:36:02.795Z

The team from the capital is having a hard time relaxing after its players were hit by objects thrown by Bnei Sakhnin fans • Erwin Koeman may resign • Marco Jankovic will stand trial

Players in Betar Jerusalem expressed great anger at Bnei Sakhnin fans and the events that took place yesterday at the Doha Stadium in the game between the teams, following the throwing of objects at them, such as the bottle that hit Marco Yankovich's head or the glass that hit defender Oren Bitton.

"Shame and disgrace everything that went on in Doha," the club said, "threw bottles and lighters at everyone, who would close the stadium for them."

Betar also noted that Sakhnin fans were documented waving Palestinian flags and, in another case, a Hamas terrorist flag.

Beyond that, Yankovic, who was sent off towards the end, may face disciplinary action in the Football Association's tribunal, because of things he said to the refereeing team, so he may be punished and miss more games besides the upcoming game against Maccabi Tel Aviv.

And if all that is not enough, coach Erwin Koeman is considering his future in the team and should make a final decision on whether to resign or not over the next two days.

If the Dutchman leaves, there are already a number of possible candidates who have been nominated and they are Haim Sylves, Kobi Refuah and ex Shai Barda.

Assistant coach Gal Cohen will also get the job, but another vision for the date.
