CNN senior presenter Chris Cuomo was suspended tonight (Wednesday) until further notice after it was revealed that he assisted his brother, former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, during his fight against allegations of sexual harassment against him. The network's decision was made after the New York Attorney General released new documents, which revealed the extent of the assistance he provided to his brother this morning. CNN said the documents showed "a greater degree of involvement in his brother's efforts than we knew before."
Andrew Cuomo resigned in August after appearing under investigation for harassing facts on his staff, and his brother Chris' attempt to help him behind the scenes was seen as a blatant violation of journalistic ethics. The documents showed that Chris put pressure on his brother's team to give him a bigger place in his defense efforts.
"You have to trust me," he wrote to Melissa Drusa, his brother's secretary, in March.
"We make mistakes we can't afford."
Over the past year, the network has briefly lifted the restriction imposed on Chris from his brother coverage after New York became the focus of the corona plague worldwide.
He began interviewing his brother on the broadcast and praising his conduct as governor.

The network has previously defended Chris Cuomo, who joined the channel in 2013, amid claims he is helping his brother, but yesterday it admitted that "the documents, which we did not know before their release, raise serious questions".
"When Chris admitted to us that he was advising his brother's staff, he violated our regulations and we publicly announced it. However, we also appreciated the unique position he was in and understood his need to put his family and work first. However, the documents "These indicate a greater degree of involvement in his brother's efforts than we knew before," the network said in a statement.
Among the documents released by the prosecution in New York were dozens of emails and text messages. "Please, let me help with the preparation," he wrote in a message to his brother's senior assistant. He also promised to create a brief with other media outlets to try and find out if other allegations against his brother are about to be published. At one point, de Rosa asked him to check out his "sources." "I'm about it, "he replied.
