CNN presenter Chris Cuomo, brother of former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, has been suspended "indefinitely" by his employer.
The move was in response to the publication of new documents related to allegations of sexual harassment against Andrew Cuomo by the New York City Attorney General.
CNN announced on Tuesday.
According to the new documents, Chris Cuomo was more closely involved in his brother's defense than was initially known.
"These documents, which we were not privy to prior to their publication, raise serious questions," said a CNN spokesman.
Chris Cuomo has so far not wanted to comment on the suspension, the broadcaster said.
Democratic politician Andrew Cuomo resigned from his position as governor of New York City in August on charges of sexual harassment by several women.
His brother Chris Cuomo had already announced at the time that he had given his brother advice.
The documents that have now been published, however, indicate a more intensive commitment.
"When Chris admitted to giving advice to his brother's team, he broke our rules - and we publicly acknowledge that," the CNN spokesman said.
At the same time, however, one understands the particular situation in which he found himself;
and for giving family priority over job.
Chris Cuomo has been working as a TV presenter for around 20 years and at CNN for around ten years;
he's a primetime star on the station.
His Tuesday evening program at 9 p.m., "Cuomo Prime Time", was regularly one of the hours with the highest audience ratings for the station, explained CNN and also spoke of Cuomo's "larger than life presence."
The suspension was reportedly quite spontaneous.
Moderator Anderson Cooper was supposed to take over the broadcast slot on this Tuesday evening at short notice.
