The quantities of diesel allocated and sold to farmers for the need to implement the plan for planting wheat and barley crops for the current season, to date, have reached more than 279,000 liters, including in the various regions of the governorate.
In a statement to SANA Economic Center, the Vice-President of the Farmers’ Union in Sweida, Rakan Al-Sehnawy, explained that the provision of diesel quantities is based on the actual need tables provided by the agricultural associations, indicating that the material is sold and delivered through tankers to the beneficiaries from the union stations in the city of Suwayda and Salim village to the villages and agricultural areas of the governorate.
He pointed out that 2 liters of diesel were allocated for each dunam, where the distribution ratio to date has reached about 25 percent of the total actual need for cultivating the two crops, which amounts to one million and 112 thousand liters, indicating that work is being done to complete the distribution successively with the continuation of agricultural operations for the two crops during the current and next months.
The plan to plant the wheat crop in As-Suwayda for the current season is 34,600 hectares, and barley is 21,000 hectares.
