The 60-year-old Dutch coach, who came to Teddy with great fanfare only six months ago, realized that he had no power to save the team from the difficult situation it found itself in and left his position

The end of the road:

After 11 league rounds, and after a long conversation with Betar Jerusalem chairman Eli Ohana, coach Erwin Koeman announced today (Wednesday) that he wants to leave the position.

Koeman justified the request to leave due to personal circumstances.

Koeman told the official Betar website: "Ever since I arrived at the Betar Jerusalem football club, I have fallen in love with the place and the people here, who do everything to make this place reach its heights.

"But with all the desire to continue, I have to stop now because of personal circumstances. It was difficult for me, but I spoke recently with the club's chairman, Eli Ohana, and I informed him of my decision, and he accepted it.

It's my time also to retire permanently as head coach of football teams.

I'm sure this amazing club will find the right path, on and off the field, to get back to the place it deserves.

I will remain a fan of the yellow and black forever, and want to thank everyone again. "

Club chairman, Eli Ohana

said: "We want to say thank you with all my heart Erwin personality, professionalism, and giving his big club.

There is no one in the club, from the management to the last of the players, who has not connected with him, so we decided to respect that decision and not try and persuade him.

"Erwin looked in every way to try and help the club achieve, and we wish him health and success along the way."
