The commander of the Central Russian Military District, General Alexander Lapin, announced the formation of a new unit in the Russian Armed Forces equipped with combat vehicles to support tanks "Terminator".
Russia Today website quoted Lapin as saying in a statement today that the new unit was formed in accordance with the decision of Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and the directives of the Chief of the General Staff, as it will operate regularly and consists of 9 combat vehicles.
He explained that this unit is scheduled to be used in June of next year, when it will be provided with new equipment in large-scale exercises for the purpose of exploring its combat capabilities.
The Russian tank support vehicle Terminator is used to conduct combat maneuvers in tank and mechanized infantry units and is a multi-mission vehicle that can be used in urban warfare and in the event of a nuclear attack.
The "Terminator" vehicle's armament includes a variety of weapons that enable it to deal with a large list of targets with a lethal firepower capable of maneuvering and launching at rates greater than the capacity of main battle tanks.
