A 30-year-old individual was arrested and taken into police custody Tuesday, November 30 after having violently assaulted two police officers in the gallery of a shopping center in Mérignac, near Bordeaux, we learned on Wednesday from a police source.

The facts occurred in the early morning, around 9:30 am.

The two officers were called in about a dispute between a client and an aggressive man.

The latter was first subdued by a security guard at the shopping center before the police arrived.

On the spot, the officials were confronted with the virulence of the thirty-something who did not hesitate to physically attack them.

In particular, a policewoman was punched in the face on several occasions.

Under the violence of the blows, she lost consciousness.

Quickly taken care of by the emergency firefighters, she was hospitalized at the Bordeaux University Hospital.

Up to five years in prison and a 75,000 euro fine

The accused individual was arrested and taken into police custody.
