As part of the efforts of President Yitzhak Herzog to encourage a discourse of unity and moderation among all sections of Israeli society, including those involved in the issue of prayer at the Western Wall plaza, the President met today (Wednesday) with MK Rabbi Gilad Karib (Labor), MK Alon Tal (blue White), representatives of the Reform movement in Israel, the traditional movement in Israel and the organization "Women of the Western Wall".

The meeting was attended by the President of the House of the President, Eyal Shuiki, and the Legal Adviser of the House of the President, Adv. Odit Korinaldi-Sirkis.

The meeting took place following last month's announcement by the President's Office regarding the President's initiative for dialogue and for leading processes headed by the Director General of the President's House on the subject of prayer at the Western Wall plaza.

At the meeting, the president heard the positions and proposals of the representatives of the various movements.

The President reiterated as he consistently said to all involved that he "strives to calm the winds in order to prevent free hatred in the remnant of our temple."

The president condemned all forms of physical and verbal violence and added that "the Western Wall is a sacred place to which the eyes of all the Jewish people in Israel and the Diaspora are raised and one must act responsibly and with restraint and try to find paths of peace between all sections of our people in Israel and the Diaspora."

MK Karib: "In our meeting today with the President of the State, I made it clear that we expect the implementation of the outline of the Western Wall, which allows all Jews from the country and the Diaspora to pray at the site as usual, without creating unnecessary friction and controversy.

"I emphasized that we will not fall into the trap of the dangerous and inciting campaign led by opposition leader Netanyahu and his associates, who are trying to set fire to the Western Wall and sow hatred between sections of the Jewish people out of political and personal motives."
