IEC warns: Thousands of customers have been cheated | Israel today

2021-12-01T12:18:16.753Z

Attempts to defraud customers continue through a false message calling on customers to "settle their debt soon" • All details

The IEC reports that for more than half a year, the company has received alerts about text messages that are distributed to customers on the mobile phone and are worded as a request to arrange payment of an account soon, including a request for approval of account information and a link to a non-official IEC website.

How does the method work?

By clicking on the link, the customer is asked to enter an identity card on the same website that is visible on the IEC's official website and from there is asked to fill in credit card information.

The IEC clarifies that text messages on behalf of the company contain the customer's contract number, and the only current link is the IEC's official website www.iec.co.il.

In addition, the company does not ask its customers to confirm account information.

According to them, it should not be addressed or responded to before it.

The IEC reported the attempted fraud to all relevant parties.
