Iran's ambassador and permanent representative to the United Nations, Majid Takht Ravanchi, affirmed that America's coercive and illegitimate measures, including the unilateral embargo, have emptied the issue of sustainable development of its content.
Today, during the 45th annual meeting of foreign ministers of the member states of the Group of 77 and China, Takht Ravanchi was quoted by the Iranian news agency IRNA as saying, "While all countries are working hand in hand to confront the coronavirus epidemic, we unfortunately see the United States imposing unilateral and coercive embargo measures on a number of countries that It has suffered more than others from the dire consequences of the epidemic.”
The Iranian delegate stressed that these illegal practices and the lack of effective and serious measures on the part of the international community to address them led to the issue of sustainable development becoming just a slogan without content and meaningless.
The Iranian ambassador to the United Nations concluded by saying, “We believe that the most important international crises and challenges facing humanity at the present time, i.e. the Corona epidemic and unilateralism, can only be defeated through collective and unified action and joint efforts by all countries under the banner of pluralism, solidarity and harmony with the spirit of cooperation.” This is the highest goal that the Group of 77 and China was created to achieve.”
