Damascus-SANA
The Ministry of Justice requested the general attorneys in the governorates to provide it with the lists of cases that have been more than two years old in each civil or criminal court, investigation department, or referral judges, including the numbers of their basis, the date of their registration with the court or department, the names of the parties and their subject within a maximum period of one week from its date.
In a circular published on its Facebook page, the ministry indicated that in accordance with the provisions of Paragraph C of Article 14 of the Judicial Authority Law, missions of inspection committees will be sent to the courts and investigation departments to scrutinize cases to find out the reasons for the delay in dismissing them, so that this will be reflected in the result on evaluating the performance and work of judges.
According to the circular, many complaints were received to the Ministry related to the failure to resolve cases for long periods, which harms the litigants and negatively affects their rights, while justice requires speedy restoration of rights or imposition of punishment.
At the beginning of this year, the Ministry of Justice asked the judges to expedite the separation of cases in which litigation has been prolonged, and whose numbers are based between 1 and 200, because of the importance of this in preserving the rights of litigants and not prolonging the period of litigation and delivering rights to their owners in the shortest possible time.
