The panel of economists consulted before each increase, however, expected Monday on an increase of between 0.5 and 0.6%.

The minimum wage should ultimately increase more than expected next year.

This is what Élisabeth Borne announced on Tuesday evening on the set of BFM Business.

While the panel of economists consulted before each increase on Monday forecast a revaluation of between 0.5 and 0.6% on January 1, the Minister of Labor said the next day that it would in fact be higher than this forecast.

This data, as well as purchasing power, is taken into account to calculate the mechanical increase in the minimum wage each year.

The latter recalled that the minimum wage had benefited from an exceptional increase in October, of 2.2% - to be increased to 10.48 euros gross per hour and 1,589.47 euros per month -, due to a price increase of more than 2% between November 2020 and August 2021. It was the first time since 2011 that an automatic increase occurred outside January 1st.
