The number of daily infections with the Corona virus in South Korea exceeded the 5,000 mark during the past 24 hours, while the country recorded the first infection with the new Omicron strain.
And Yonhap news agency quoted the South Korean Agency for Disease Control and Prevention as saying that "the number of corona infections rose by a daily rate of 5,123, bringing the total to 452,350."
The number of deaths rose to 3658, after 34 new deaths were recorded.
