The police received the report on the afternoon of November 27, stating that people were fighting collectively in the cargo terminal of the airport air transport center in the early hours of the same day.
The Criminal Intelligence and Support Team of the Airport Police District took over the investigation and joined forces with the New Territories South Tactical Force and the Police Dog Team to conduct anti-crime operations in the airport cargo area for several days. They searched multiple crime black spots, stopped and interrogated more than 100 people.
After in-depth investigation and search of multiple locations, five men (26 to 41 years old) were arrested in the airport police area on November 30 for "fighting in public places."
All arrested persons have been released on bail pending further investigation and must report to the police in late December.
The case is still under investigation, and the police do not rule out more arrests.
According to the police, according to the Public Order Ordinance, Chapter 245 of the Laws of Hong Kong, anyone who participates in an illegal fight in a public place is a crime. Once convicted, the maximum penalty is a fine of $5,000 and imprisonment for 12 months.
The Airport Police District will continue to maintain close liaison with relevant departments and various stakeholders, using intelligence to lead, conduct surprises or joint operations to combat different crimes, and strive to maintain public safety.
