The first round of the Republicans' ballot to nominate the right and center candidate for the presidential election opened this Wednesday, December 1 at 8 a.m.


The votes have started.

Since 8 am, this Wednesday, December 1, the members of the Republicans can participate in the ballot to designate the suitor they wish to see become the candidate of the right and the center for the presidential election of 2022. In this first round, the activists have the choice between five candidates - Michel Barnier, Xavier Bertrand, Éric Ciotti, Philippe Juvin and Valérie Pécresse - who have largely developed their ideas during the four televised debates organized in recent days.

While the party had only 79,681 members a few months ago, memberships have multiplied in recent weeks in view of the congress.

In less than two months, the number of activists has almost doubled.

To date, the party has 139,918 members up to date with contributions.

Supporters who have already been numerous to vote, a few hours after the start of this first round: at noon, the participation rate already stands at 25.4%, according to a press release from the Republicans.

This morning, Xavier Bertrand and Valérie Pécresse have also indicated on social networks that they had already carried out their electronic vote.

A first round which will end on Thursday 2 December at 2 p.m.
