Russian President Vladimir Putin announced today that his country will take appropriate military-technical measures in response to NATO's provocations.
Russia Today website quoted Putin as saying during a ceremony to approve foreign ambassadors that "Moscow will confirm its adherence not to allow NATO's expansion eastward towards the Russian borders, and in this case we are taking appropriate military-technical measures, but I repeat that we do not threaten anyone."
Putin made it clear that Western countries ignore Russia's concern about NATO's eastward expansion towards its borders, pointing out that his country proposes starting substantial negotiations to achieve legal guarantees that NATO will not expand eastward toward its borders.
The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) continues its provocations near the Russian borders, and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced yesterday that the United States and the alliance surrounded Russia with military bases and began to raise and exaggerate fears on its borders.
