Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov confirmed today that Moscow has taken into account the indication of the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko regarding the possible deployment of Russian nuclear weapons on the territory of the Republic of Belarus.
"We have heard the signal from President Lukashenko and have taken it into account. We are very responsible for implementing our obligations under all the agreements to which Russia is a party," Ryabkov told reporters today in Moscow.
Ryabkov pointed out that there is a group of NATO member states that are not considered nuclear states, according to the definition of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, in which there are such weapons, and they are on alert, despite everything, the situation remains unchanged. Acceptance of such weapons in accordance with the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, contrary to its status, and that the presence of weapons on its territory does not cause any problems within the Alliance.
"We will continue to strive persistently to compel Washington and its NATO allies to abandon the path of strengthening military activity, capabilities and military infrastructure near the Russian borders, and we will take all necessary measures to ensure Russian national security," Ryabkov added.
