Harsh photos that reached "Real Estate Today" reveal torn Torah scrolls on the cave floor and desecrated relics • The famous Elijah chair was documented as a supporter of the putty works • Documenter of the event: "I burst into tears, people died in the Holocaust for less than that" • Ministry of Religions: On the subject of urgency "

Difficult documentation to watch:

While the Haifa municipality sent a message this week announcing the reopening of Elijah the Prophet's Cave in about six months, after renovation work that lasted about two years - the "Real Estate Today" system received shocking documentation of desecration, including the throne of Elijah the Prophet, during The works on site.

As can be seen in the pictures, the throne of Elijah the prophet is used as part of the scaffolding, Torah scrolls were found thrown on the floor of the cave and other sacred objects, preserved for many years, were found shamefully thrown around the cave.

In addition, rolls of toilet paper are seen strewn on local Torah scrolls.

The throne of Elijah the prophet,

Amir Harel, who documented the sights, tells "Real Estate Today" that when he noticed the desecrated objects he burst into tears: "This place is respected by millions of Jews.

My grandmother used to bring me here when I was a child to receive greetings, "Harel said." I turned to the guard at the place.

He said that the workers who work there despised the sanctity of the place and the Jewish items, and he warned about this, but in vain. "

He added: "People died in the Holocaust for less than that and deprived themselves of life to come to Israel the Holy Land to have the privilege of being in the Cave of Elijah the Prophet and reading a Torah scroll that is currently thrown on the floor and the throne of Elijah the Prophet is used as a scaffold.

Just a week ago, during a tour conducted by the acting mayor of Haifa, Michael Alper, the Western Wall rabbi Shmuel Rabinovich and the donor Alberto Kochav, the progress of the renovation work at the holy site was presented.

Mayor Einat Klish Rotem also noted: "We were able to raise the budgets for the restoration and accessibility work in the cave. The number of visitors after the renovation is expected to triple itself."

The reopening of the holy site of the Cave of Elijah the Prophet in Haifa is planned for this coming spring.

As part of the renovation, which is estimated to cost about NIS 15 million, the site is accessible to people with disabilities by building two main levels between which an elevator will connect.

It is also planned to build a visitor center, a souvenir shop, an event space and a cafeteria that will be connected via a new bridge so that all the components of the complex will function together as one complex.

The tour of the cave complex last week,

The photos were transferred to the Haifa municipality, from where it was reported that the documentation "is indeed shocking but the works are not their responsibility."

In response to a request from the "Real Estate Today" system to the Ministry of Religions, it was stated that "the issue will be addressed urgently."

We will continue to follow.
