The 57-year-old retired policeman and his wife were outside the public transport interchange at Siu Hong Station in Tuen Mun on the evening of last Sunday (28th). They were suspected of fighting with the 55-year-old Pingzhi van driver surnamed Chen due to berth problems. Later, Chen fell into a coma. He was sent to hospital and died.
The police arrested the couple after the incident, each charged with one count of manslaughter. The case was presented in Tuen Mun Court today (1st). Model and DNA tests, as well as autopsy report results, etc.
The wife was allowed to bail a total of 200,000 yuan with cash and personnel guarantees, but the bail application of the retired police was rejected.
Defendants Kwong Tak Wing (retired, 57 years old) and Li Guifang (Laundry Supervisor, 58 years old), revealed in court that Kwong was a senior police officer before retiring.
The two were charged with illegally killing Chen Guoliang at a taxi stand outside of Exit A of MTR Siu Hong Station, Siu Hong Road, Tuen Mun, New Territories, Hong Kong on November 28, 2021.
Both defendants have applied for bail. The female defendant was granted bail with a total of 200,000 yuan in cash and personnel guarantees. Other bail conditions include not leaving Hong Kong, surrendering travel documents, and reporting to the police station once a week.
The male defendant’s application was rejected and he was required to be remanded under the custody of the Correctional Services Department.
