The "Light of Israel" ceremony, in which the Deputy Foreign Minister will award certificates of appreciation to celebrities "who tell the story of Israel in the world" is expected to take place this morning.

The Foreign Ministry will hold a "Light of Israel" ceremony today (Wednesday), in which the Deputy Foreign Minister, Idan Roll, will give signals of appreciation to those "who tell the story of Israel in the world."

However, the Foreign Ministry staff committee intends to disrupt the ceremony with protests.

The workers are angry that instead of thanking and appreciating the Foreign Ministry employees for their work for the state, Deputy Minister Roll selected celebrities to receive media coverage.

In addition, they claim that the 21 recipients of the signal were chosen mainly by Roll and his people, and not according to the firm's professional recommendations.

The list of signal recipients is long and includes Dr. Dorit Nitzan, researcher Kira Radinsky, Shira Haas, Tomer Kapon, Yosef Hadad, Idan Raichel, Keren Margalit, Lior Soshard, Neta Barzilai, Barak Yehezkeli, Lior Raz, Avi Yissacharoff, Alon Livna, Moran Samuel, social entrepreneur Sivan Yaari, Artium Dolgofiat, Moran Atias, social activist Ashgar Arro, Danny Abdia, Assaf Granit and Noa Tishbi.

Yossi Sefri Levy,

A letter circulated by the chairman of the workers' committee, Yossi Sefri Levy, states that "presumably if the ministry's employees were called to nominate candidates, it would turn out that the list is much longer, and includes many good people who put a lot of effort into promoting Israel's name in the world.

"Some are better known to the Israeli public, some are less well known, but their influence is great."

According to Sefri Levy, "Office workers all over the world, in remote and difficult places, on campuses, in newspaper systems, in meetings with audiences and influencers, are the light of Israel, they are the ones who stand at the forefront in peace and war." "To the whole world, and they are also the ones who promote Israeli culture and do everything in their power so that the creative people of Israel - in all fields of art and culture - will appear on dignified and central stages on all continents."

Deputy Minister Roll's office said in a response that "the list of winners was selected in cooperation between the Deputy Minister's Office and the Department of Public Diplomacy in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs."
