The Haifa District Court today (Wednesday) rejected the appeal against the extension of the detention of Edward Katzura, the suspect in the murder of Yael Melnik.

This follows the court's decision yesterday to extend Katzura's detention for the 15th time, until tomorrow.

This is the third appeal in this legal chain.



Defense attorney Boris Sherman, representing Katzura, said in filing the appeal that: "Katzura was absent from any criminal record, cooperated in the investigation, provided a detailed version of events, and even performed a recorded reconstruction."

Witness Sherman added that the suspect "was detained for the first time in his life for more than 60 days in conditions significantly worse than the 'normal' conditions of detention.
