How to Get a Spectacular Climbing Plant - Sweet Potato (@bradcanning)
Many people know that sweet potatoes are one of the easiest vegetables to germinate.
Most of us discover this by chance, when some forgotten sweet potato begins to grow small branches.
But did you know that if you help her a little she can develop into a very impressive climbing plant?
Brad Canning, a Melbourne resident, shared a simple guide to growing a climbing plant at home - with the help of sweet potatoes.
In a video shared with his 475,000 followers on Tiktok, he showed how a simple sweet potato can be turned into a spectacular climbing plant when placed in a simple water tank - and that's it.
It does not require any further effort, he said.
Brad says in the video: "All you have to do is take a sweet potato straight from the supermarket, put it in a glass of water and that's it - it will become an amazing houseplant," he said in the segment.
He says 4 weeks since you planted the sweet potato in water - it will germinate roots and grow leaves.
He added: "It's the coolest and easiest plant to care for, because you just have to change the water every two weeks and that's it."

His video went viral, with many vowing to get themselves such a sweet potato pot - or having already tried and loved it. "Mine took over my kitchen. The roots sprouted within a few days," one wrote and another added, "I did it and it only took two weeks. It was the best part of my day, seeing how it grew."
Other respondents complained that the sweet potato rotted before it could grow leaves, but many were quick to provide effective advice for such a case. One wrote: "For anyone who has a problem, sweet potatoes like a lot of sunlight so a well-lit room and regular freshwater replacements should help."
Brad has gained a high number of loyal followers thanks to his videos, in which he shows off his impressive collection of houseplants and helpful tips for keeping them.
In the past he has shared an extraordinary method for removing pests from plants.
In a video he posted on Tiktok he showed how he sprinkles a small amount of cinnamon around his house pots to get rid of fermentation flies.
Cinnamon is used as a natural fermentation fly killer, when it is known to effectively kill Drosophila in the soil from which they feed.
He says in the video: "These little flies are attracted to moist soil. The first solution is to let the plants dry out more, or another option is to use cinnamon. Scatter it around your plant and that's it. It sure smells good and it works. You have to stop them before laying thousands Eggs in the ground. "
Cinnamon adds a lot:

Another way to fight the annoying flies is to cover the ground with stones or water the plants from the bottom up instead of from the top down.
This method helps the plants absorb exactly the amount of water they need, strengthens the roots and leaves the top soil dry.
