US to toughen travel restrictions

, the US president is due to announce on Thursday that travelers entering the country will have to test negative less than 24 hours before boarding.

The government would also consider imposing a second test within three to five days of arrival.

US authorities are reportedly even considering imposing seven-day self-isolation on all travelers, even if the test is negative.

Those who do not respect these rules would be subject to fines, a first in the country.

Today, the United States already imposes a PCR test on all travelers wishing to enter its territory.

But for the vaccinated, the deadlines are more comfortable: the test must have been carried out at most 72 hours before boarding, against 24 hours for the unvaccinated.
