Who's Who 2022: Mbappé, Bernard Minier, René de Obaldia and culture on the rise

In the new edition of the biographical dictionary, the percentage of celebrities but also of those who work behind the scenes in the artistic world, has increased over the last twelve months.

The fall in admissions to the theater and concert halls, following the pandemic, does not prevent culture from experiencing a resurgence of interest, at least in the barometer of society that constitutes the Who's Who.

Antoine Hebrard, its President, has done his accounts: in the 2022 edition, the percentage of celebrities and those who work behind the scenes in the world of entertainment and the arts has paradoxically increased over the past twelve months: more 3000 names are among the 22,000 listed this year.

The world of the stage, song, dance, and the visual arts are present, as well as that of writers.

Bernard Minier, whose thrilling thrillers have been translated in more than twenty countries, makes his debut.

One of his most illustrious colleagues, René de Obaldia, 103 Spring, is the dean of this biographical dictionary.

He is exactly 81 years older than the youngest, whose biography appears for the first time, Kylian Mbappé.

His presence, like that of a few others, acts as a rejuvenation cure: 44% of the personalities present are under fifty years old.

Among them are the director of the Versailles musical center, the conductor of the Orchester National de France and the curator of the Paris catacombs.

Decrease in the number of senior officials

If parity is not topical among these representatives of today's society, the percentage of women is also increasing: 31% against 28% a year ago.

The number of senior officials and diplomats, on the other hand, has fallen by around 16%.

New professions, linked to technological progress, are emerging, starting with specialists in cryptocurrency or Data Science, that is to say the real-time analysis of the reality and the accuracy of scientific data.

Finally, it was decided not to automatically eliminate the biographies of those who, during the last twelve months, have been indicted.

"

As long as they are not condemned, they are presumed innocent

", specifies Antoine Hebrard rightly.

The realization of this Who's Who also made it possible to see how much confinement, the establishment of teleworking, but also the development of the Internet, have upset many professional habits. A large majority of those who, for decades, filled out a questionnaire, then sent it back by mail, now download a file that they fill out, then immediately send it by email. In addition, the hours they save by avoiding going to the office allow them to take the time to update their biographies by writing much more detailed responses on their activities. Finally, instead of their professional or private address, or even a telephone number, they now indicate a simple email address.

Finally, there are those who do not respond, despite multiple reminders from the editorial team.

This is a new phenomenon,”

concludes Antoine Hebrard.

Staying hidden behind your computer is now child's play

”.
