Recently, the weather has turned cooler. As the winter enters and the peak of winter flu is approaching, the Hospital Authority began a series of contingency measures today (1st) to cope with the increasing demand for accident and hospital services.
The latest figures show that yesterday (November 30) of the 17 public hospitals, the occupancy rate of the medical wards in 10 of the 17 public hospitals was full. The overall occupancy rate reached 103%, and the fraternity reached 117%, the highest in Hong Kong.
In response to the winter flu, the Hospital Authority earlier urged the public to get the flu and new crown vaccines as soon as possible to reduce the risk of infection.
5,144 visits to the accident and emergency departments of 17 public hospitals
In response to the peak winter service period, the Hospital Authority will closely monitor the Accident and Emergency Department services and inpatient bed occupancy rates of its public hospitals. According to data released today, there were 5,144 visits to 17 from 0:00 to 11:59 pm yesterday. Tuen Mun Hospital had the most consultations in the Accident and Emergency Department of two public hospitals, with 441 people, followed by Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
The overall occupancy rate of hospital beds in the internal medicine ward reaches 103%
In terms of the occupancy rate of hospital beds in internal medicine wards, the overall occupancy rate reached 103%, which means it was "overwhelmed". Ten of the 17 public hospitals were full. The occupancy rates were Pok Oi, Tseung Kwan O, United, Granville Hospital, Eastern District, Queen Elizabeth, and Tun Mun, Caritas, Tai Po Nethersole and North District.
Among them, the occupancy rate of the beds in the Pok Oi Internal Medicine Ward reached 117%, and 46 of them were admitted to the internal medicine department through the emergency room.
Public hospitals add up to 800 beds to deal with winter flu
The Hospital Authority recently expressed its concern that the influenza outbreak this winter will return to pre-epidemic levels. The reasons include that more and more schools resume full-time teaching, so public hospitals will add up to 800 temporary beds to respond, but admits that some beds will be in the corridors. The situation is unsatisfactory, and it is revealed that the loss of medical staff is also more serious than expected.
The Hospital Authority also stated that it had allocated more than $700 million in advance through a task force in the middle of the year to prepare for the peak winter service period of public hospitals, including manpower planning and provision of temporary beds as needed.
In order to speed up the flow of beds, public hospitals will strengthen a number of services, including laboratory services, the number of visits by senior doctors at night and holidays, and support for discharge and transfer. General outpatient services will also increase the number of consultations by about 24,000.
The peak of winter flu reaches the HA to increase the number of outpatient services in Christmas and New Year. Winter flu clinics will be opened in Christmas and New Year. The HA is worried about returning to the pre-epidemic level "corridor bed" or reappearing unsatisfactory compulsory testing. Listed in the Gangway Jade Ramen Xiaolong Wrap Inspection
