The wife of President Michal Herzog visited the Sulam Center in Jerusalem today (Thursday) to mark the International Day for the Equal Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
Herzog toured the center and met with his or her students participating in the various settings.
The "Sulam" center was established with the aim of promoting toddlers, children and youth with special needs and making them independent and integrated into the community.
The center operates on several main levels: the activity of educational rehabilitation day frameworks throughout the country, raising awareness and changing attitudes in society, influencing policies and legislation and empowering families and training them.
About 30% of Ladder graduates succeed in integrating into regular follow-up frameworks.

The president's wife told the center's facts: "The children here are going through a wonderful journey on the ladder and thanks to you they are learning and able to integrate as much as possible. There are positive and good connections here that give children a supportive safety net and help lead to great results. "People with disabilities and this is such an important issue that needs to be talked about, especially for the children and for us as a society."
At the end of the visit, Herzog said excitedly: "The visit to the Ladder was charming and exciting. The sacred work done here is very important. I met a charming and professional team led by the wonderful Esther Ernster, who gives wonderful opportunities to the children. Thank you."

Sulam CEO Esther Ernster thanked the First Lady and said: "It's exciting to see how much this thing is on your mind.
We work hard to ensure that children with disabilities who are in our frameworks progress as much as possible and are integrated into regular frameworks.
It is for us a central goal to ensure the integration of as many children as possible among the population.
"Knowing that we have a close friend at the President's House, who shares the idea and vision and shares in all our activities, encourages and heralds good things first of all for the children, for the parents and of course for us as well."
