In the video: The commander of Gilboa Prison testifies about the escape of the prisoners (Roni Kanfo)

Two former security prisoners, who were serving their sentences in Gilboa Prison, testified in a conversation with Walla!

Because they saw with their own eyes the seemingly wrong relationship that developed between the prison intelligence officer, Rabbi Rani Basha, and the former leader of the terrorists at Gilboa Prison, Muhammad Atallah, who was accused of indecent acts in prisons.

The affair of the pimp, which was revealed about three and a half years ago, resurfaced about a week ago, in light of the remarks of Gondar Deputy Chief of Staff Freddy Ben Sheetrit, the current commander of Gilboa Prison, before the investigation committee into the terrorists' failure to escape from prison.

"Atallah behaved in the prison like the landlord, as if he were the prison commander and not the prisoners' spokesman in Wing 5. He had great influence in other wards of Gilboa Prison and his main influence was on the prison administration and intelligence personnel who let him choose which wardens to serve in his wing," Walla!

The two prisoners.

According to them, Atallah's actions brought a bad name to all the prisoners.

"Most of the security guards did not really try to mess with guards, on the contrary," they stressed.

"Atallah surrounded himself with young and beautiful wardens that he would choose and used to rub shoulders with. There is no such thing as being a warden in Atallah's wing who did not pass his permit," testified one of the prisoners.

According to him, Atallah "had good and very close ties with intelligence officer Rani Basha and his deputy. They used to lock themselves in the wing's canteen, where they would talk and close all agreements."

The security prisoners told Walla!

Because Atallah's apparent return did not just come down to industrial silence and intelligence.

Atallah blocked prisoners from filing complaints and petitions that could have caused quite a bit of headache for the IPS.

Most of the security guards did not dare to file a petition without first talking to Atallah and getting his approval.

"Whoever dared to do so would be beaten to death," the former prisoners testified.

"Security is run in a clear hierarchy."

An IPS officer who served in Gilboa Prison at the time also remembers the special status that Atallah enjoyed in prison, in front of the prisoners and in front of the prison's intelligence officer.

It's like an army.

They have the prisoner running the wing.

They have the 'Schwish', like a wing sergeant who takes care of mediating between the guards and the prisoners.

"A prisoner does not ask the IPS for anything directly, everything would go through Atallah," the officer said.

He said, "When there was a hunger strike in Gilboa prison, Atallah would sit in the intelligence officer's office, smoking cigarettes and eating all kinds of goodies. The intelligence officer would arrange for him."

The intelligence officer Basha, who is being investigated in the affair, did tell his associates that during the hunger strike, Atallah sat in his office and ate his nose with a chicken he had arranged for him.

Advocate Ramzi Katilat, representing Muhammad Atallah, said in response that "the allegations are baseless and stem from interested parties in the context of a labor dispute that is currently taking place in court with the IPS. Eyal Basarglik, who represents the intelligence officer, also rejected the allegations. "We are sorry that interested parties continue to flood an affair that has been investigated and closed. Our client has never given Atallah the ability to choose who will serve in his wing, things are the responsibility of the prison commander. "Operating an agent is the job of an agent officer. The fact that they are trying to damage the name of an outstanding officer who saved lives and for that he received much praise, is unfortunate and will be dealt with legally."
