TESTIMONIALS - The bill aiming to extend the legal deadline for abortion, passed on November 29 in the Assembly, provided for the abolition of the abortion conscience clause for caregivers. Le Figaro has collected testimonies from doctors, midwives and nurses confronted with this question.


Adopted in second reading by the National Assembly on November 29, the bill "aimed at strengthening the right to abortion" provides for extending the legal deadline from 12 to 14 weeks of pregnancies to perform an abortion.

The initial text, defended by the deputies Albane Gaillot (ex-LREM, not registered) and Marie-Noëlle Battistel (PS), also provided for the deletion of the conscience clause of caregivers specific to voluntary termination of pregnancy (abortion), different from the general conscience clause of caregivers.
