Children of the Syrian Organization for Persons with Disabilities (Amal) celebrated their International Day, which falls on Friday, through theatrical and artistic performances that expressed their talents and abilities.

The celebration, which was organized by (Amal) and entitled (A Day for Us..An Opportunity for All), began with the performance of the Syrian Arab anthem by a number of people with disabilities from civil associations led by the artist Hossam El Din Primo. This was followed by the presentation of two theatrical scenes entitled (Wala Lewin) and (A Very Ordinary Day). ) for children from the Autism Center and the Educational Center for Hearing Impairment in the organization.

The event also included an art exhibition entitled (My Hope for Virgin), in which children embodied through their paintings the image of the future they dream of, and a film was shown about the organization’s achievements for the year 2021 and academic programs in Syrian universities to build a rehabilitation team that works with persons with disabilities in the fields of speech and language assessment, audiology, occupational therapy and therapy. Psychomotor, prosthetics, orthotics and clinical psychology.

In a speech during the celebration, the representative of the Board of Trustees of the Amal Organization, Dr. Ali Turkmani, stated that the organization is completing the rehabilitation team in cooperation with the University of Damascus with a future plan to increase the number of specialists. It is also preparing, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, the necessary standards and frameworks for the integration of children with disabilities in schools and the rehabilitation of teachers and their infrastructure within a project My country "will see the light soon".

Regarding Amal’s achievements for the year 2021, Turkmani indicated that 60 snail implants were carried out, 623 hearing aids were secured in cooperation with the World Health Organization for 343 beneficiaries, 2500 people were served in the Audio Investigations Center, 3600 psychomotor sessions were provided, 45 children were rehabilitated in the ranks of the autism center, and 4 children from the center were graduated from the center. educationally.

The celebration concluded with honoring five students with a hearing impairment who obtained a certificate of basic education and honoring school principals and teachers who provided them with academic support.

In a statement to reporters, Minister of Education Dr. Darem Tabbaa indicated that integrating children with disabilities into schools is a successful experience and we hope to expand it, pointing to the continuation of work to make all schools a healthy environment for these children.

The International Day of Persons with Disabilities is celebrated annually on the 3rd of December, when it was approved by the United Nations in 1992 to be an international day that sheds light on the importance of involving this group in building an inclusive and effective society.

The Syrian Organization for Persons with Disabilities (Amal) is a non-governmental, non-profit organization established in 2002 and seeks to provide rehabilitation services and a supportive environment for persons with disabilities and to provide them with fair opportunities to enable their effective and independent participation in all aspects of life, according to international standards and under the supervision of international experts.
