The former chancellor suspected in a corruption case will announce his resignation from the leadership of the "People's Party" and leave politics, the media in the country report • The reason given for his retirement is the birth of Kurtz's son

Former Austrian Chancellor Svetian Kurz will announce today (Thursday) that he will retire from political life even after the end of the trial against him, the Austrian newspaper Kornan Zeitung announced.

According to the newspaper, Kurtz, who is in the throes of political life due to a lawsuit against him for allegedly trying to get sympathetic coverage in exchange for a bribe, is interested in retiring from political life due to the birth of his son.

Kurtz said that a "click occurred" after seeing his son for the first time and he realized that he was not interested in continuing in political life for the time being.

Sebastian Kurtz announced last month his decision to resign in October until he can prove his innocence in the "biased coverage for pay" case attributed to him.

Kurtz will continue to serve as the leader of the Conservative People's Party and as a member of his faction in the Austrian Parliament, but will be replaced by one of his associates, Foreign Minister Alexander Schellenberg, a senior member of the People's Party.

Kurtz clarified that he had decided to resign temporarily in order to prevent the disintegration of the current government of Austria, which consists of the "People's Party" and the "Greens".

The leaders of the Greens have announced that they do not intend to remain in the government headed by Kurtz, given the grave suspicions against him.

The Austrian president, Alexander van der Blanc, a former leader of the Green Party, also hinted that in the face of the offenses attributed to Kurtz, his adherence to the Chancellor's standard would damage Austrian democracy.

In the face of the government crisis, negotiations have already begun between the Greens and the Social Democrat-led opposition parties on the formation of an alternative government with four parties, including the populist right-wing Freedom Party.

Alexander Schellenberg was appointed Chancellor of Austria last month.

Schalenberg, who served as foreign minister under Kurtz, is considered very close to his predecessor in office.

His appointment as chancellor about a month ago prevented the break-up of the fragile coalition between the Conservatives and the "Greens" in Vienna.
