Sebastian Kurz wants to withdraw from politics.
SPIEGEL learned this from ÖVP circles.
Several Austrian media had previously written about the resignation.
The birth of his son ultimately made the difference, Kurz told the "Krone" - when he saw his child, it "clicked".
According to Krone, his successor as ÖVP boss will be Interior Minister Karl Nehammer.
