A resident of Oranit filed a lawsuit against the bank claiming that he refuses to give mortgages to residents of the territories solely on the basis of their place of residence and that the decision may be due to political motives • The judge hinted that there is no basis for the allegations

A plaintiff who filed a class action lawsuit against Bank Hapoalim after being told that the mortgage is not possible because it is an apartment registered in the "Jordanian registry" was forced to withdraw from the lawsuit, after the judge hinted that there is no basis for discrimination on the basis of residence.

This is a NIS 1.15 billion class action lawsuit filed by a resident of Oranit, who claimed that the bank refuses to grant mortgages to residents of the territories solely on the basis of their place of residence, and that the decision may be due to political motives.

The bank through attorneys Sharon Lubetzky-Hess and Yaniv Holtzman of the firm of Amit Polak Matalon & Co. claimed that contrary to the plaintiff's claims, the bank granted hundreds of housing loans to clients living in the Judea and Samaria area.

Tel Aviv District Court Judge Michal Amit Anisman dismissed the lawsuit and ruled that "after examining the parties' claims, I found to approve the applicant's departure from the request for approval."
