Who is for?
Who is against?
Faced with the fifth epidemic wave, associated with the arrival of the Omicron variant, the political class is wondering about the response to be provided.
And puts on the table a debate now recurring since the first vaccines: compulsory vaccination.
Liberticide for some, inevitable for others, the subject continues to divide.

"
My conviction is that this debate must be open,
" François Bayrou first declared on Wednesday, on the set of Jean-Jacques Bourdin.
Already at the beginning of the summer, the president of the MoDem had pleaded in favor of a "
collective decision to make vaccination compulsory
", while the question arose only for caregivers.
The hypothesis was quickly rejected by the executive, preferring the use of the health pass.
"Do it in peace"
Four months later, François Bayrou has not changed his mind.
And he believes that it is necessary "to
do it in peace
".
“
We already have eleven compulsory vaccinations in France.
What problem would there be?
At a time when our societies are attacked by a virus that we know how to fight, whose transmission we know how to slow (...).
For the moment, there is not the multiplication of extremely serious cases in the hospital.
Thanks to the vaccine which prevents the disease from slipping into something very serious,
”said the elected representative as an argument.

Calling for "
retreat
", the centrist Hervé Morin also spoke in favor of the obligation. "
The freedom to vaccinate is at least as valuable as the freedom of the one who refuses to be vaccinated,
" he said first. Before ensuring that "
compulsory non-vaccination leads to another infringement of freedom, which is the existence of the health pass
".
"
I do not think that we should go as far as compulsory vaccination
", for his part declared François Sauvadet, president of the Assembly of Departments of France.
But the "
risk of a fifth wave
" is there and it is necessary to take "
certainly coercive measures
" to "
lead people to take this decision
".

Last weekend, the socialist candidate Anne Hidalgo also declared that it was necessary to "
push for vaccination
", and asked: "
Go to compulsory vaccination? Why not
. " In the ranks of the rose party, the measure has already been mentioned for many months and parliamentarians have always spoken in favor of the latter. On the other hand, rebellious France is hostile to it. For the deputy Alexis Corbière, it is more essential to "
convince
" the recalcitrant.
Faithful to his line, the Minister of Health Olivier Véran has for the moment ruled out any recourse to the obligation.
"
Who says obligation says control and sanction, so the feasibility is not obvious,
" he said on Wednesday, adding that it was "
not the choice
" of France.
However, the last two years of the crisis have shown that the positions of the executive can always evolve depending on the situation.
Especially since the vaccination obligation is now retained by Austria, considered in Germany and addressed by several European countries.
