The House of Representatives, controlled by the Democratic Party, plans to urgently process a bill on Thursday to ensure funding from the federal government in the short term, which would avoid a closure due to lack of budget as of Friday afternoon .
Rosa DeLauro, a Connecticut Democrat and chair of the Appropriations Committee, announced in the morning that her party will back a measure to extend funding through February 18, buying time for a long-term agreement that goes into effect next year. .
DeLauro explained that the bill introduces "virtually no changes to existing funding or policy," but added that it includes $ 7 billion for refugees evacuated from Afghanistan.
The House is expected to consider the measure on Thursday, although the vote has yet to be announced.
