Germany has announced it will tighten restrictions on the unvaccinated Israel today

The outgoing German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, announced today (Thursday) a series of measures designed to put pressure on the population to get vaccinated and restrict the measures of the unvaccinated in the country, in order to combat the spread of the virus and the new omicron strain.

Merkel said during a meeting of the German cabinet that the situation in the country is very serious and that it supports a policy of compulsory vaccination for the entire population.  

Meanwhile, the European Public Health Agency announced today that the organization fears that the coronavirus omicron variant may account for half of the virus infections within a period of a few weeks or months.

The announcement also states that the variant has already been discovered in ten different countries in the union. 

The assumption may provide further proof of the initial information that came about the variant that it is more contagious than previous strains of the virus, including the delta virus that caused a huge wave of illness, and is considered the most contagious strain of the virus to date.

"Based on mathematical models carried out by the Organization for the Prevention of Infectious Diseases in Europe, there are indications that the omicron may cause half of all coronary heart disease infections in the EU in the coming months," the Public Health Agency said in a statement.
