Salamiyah City Council in the eastern Hama countryside has completed the installation of solar-powered lighting units on Homs Street, with an extension of about 1,000 meters in the city.
The head of the city council, Zakaria Fahd, told SANA reporter that alternative energy equipment and units were installed along the street, starting from the garages roundabout to the General Cotton Ginning Company, pointing out that the project aims to illuminate the city’s streets in the absence of street lighting networks and electrical rationing.
Fahd revealed that the work plan for the next year includes the implementation of a project at a cost of more than 150 million pounds to illuminate the entire streets of Salamiyah, the main and secondary city, with alternative energy units, taking advantage of the old equipment of the solar energy units that were installed during previous periods, and replacing the damaged, broken and expired ones with new ones.
