Saar's decision comes against the background of the disagreements in the Judicial Selection Committee.

Saar's move comes to complete a standard of justice for the Supreme Court, which now stands in the absence of two judges following the retirement of Menachem Mazuz and Hanan Meltzer.

As stated, this is a temporary appointment, until the Judicial Selection Committee reaches an agreement regarding the permanent appointment of the next four candidates for the Supreme Court (two who have already retired and two more who will retire in April).

"I am convinced that Judge Shochat will contribute his rich judicial experience and skills to the work of the Supreme Court," Saar said, referring to the disagreements in the Judicial Selection Committee. "The supreme court in the country. My responsibility is, among other things, to allow the Supreme Court to function and reduce the harm caused to citizens as a result of the missing vehicle."
