Live blog: This is how the tattoo works for Angela Merkel

2021-12-02T18:24:27.161Z

How does "You forgot the color film" sounded by the staff music corps of the German Armed Forces? What does Angela Merkel say about her departure at the big tattoo - and has she reached the Schröder level emotionally? The live commentary.

In addition to the national anthem and a bit of march music, we will hear three pieces in particular this evening: the old GDR hit

    "You forgot the color film"

by Nina Hagen from 1974, the chanson

"For me it should rain red roses"

by Hildegard Knef from 1968 and the old ecumenical classic

    "Great God, we praise you"

    .

    These are Merkel's three wishes.

In the Phoenix retrospect, Julian Reichelt is still "Bild" editor-in-chief and says: "The fact that Angela Merkel writes so many text messages indicates that she has nothing to hide. She has a clear conscience."

And Uli Jörges, formerly at Stern, now on talk shows, says that neighbors have already seen Merkel bathing naked in the lake in the Uckermark.

And there we are already at one of her music requests: "You forgot the color film" also has something to do with nudism ...

And speaking of "color film": You could read that before the turn of the millennium, marches could be heard above all, and more modern pieces since then.

Federal President Joachim Gauck, for example, chose the GDR rock song

"Over seven bridges you must go"

    by Karat

    when he left

, and his predecessor Christian Wulff

    chose

    the Judy Garland hit

    "Over The Rainbow"

The wishes of several defense ministers were somewhat more daring: Franz Josef Jung opted for the Andrea Bocelli Schmonzette

    "Time to Say Goodbye"

    , Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg for

    "Smoke on the Water"

    by Deep Purple.

    Thomas de Maizière had

the Austrian pop group Opus play

    “Live is Life”

    Hello from Munich!

I confess: Today, for the first time in my life, I follow a tattoo live on television.

I'm really looking forward to fire torches and Angela Merkel's humor.

  • 12/2/20216:08:54 PM

For all friends of lexicon knowledge: The Great Zapfenstreich is the highest honor a civilian can receive from the Bundeswehr.

The ceremony honors both Federal Chancellors and Federal Presidents and Defense Ministers on their adoption.

The origins of the great tattoo go back

    to the 16th century

    .

The ceremony always takes place in the evening and consists of a parade, several pieces of music and the march out.

Oh yes, torches shouldn't be missing, of course.

Have a quick smoke at the Landwehr Canal, then over to the Bendlerblock ...

  • 12/2/20216: 06:21 PM

    Good evening everyone!

I actually had a catchy tune from "You forgot the color film" all day today.

    Thank you Merkel ...

  • 12/2/20216: 04:46 PM

    Even the

    rehearsal for a certain song

in this "Great Zapfenstreich" caused a stir on social media today ...

  • 12/2/20216: 03:15 PM

Good evening from my side too, dear readers.

I'm looking forward to the Zapfenstreich and the Bundeswehr brass band.

The 823rd Merkel Review is still running on Phoenix before it soon ends.

    Or starts, depending.

  • 12/2/20216: 00:54 PM

    Exactly seven minutes?

    We will check.

  • 12/2/20215:59:00 PM

Briefly, the formalities: This is how the celebration in front of the Bendlerblock, the Berlin headquarters of the Ministry of Defense, should run.

The Bundeswehr would not be the Bundeswehr if everything hadn't been planned down to the minute:

    • The guests should have taken their seats by 7.10 p.m.

    • Merkel's speech, which is scheduled to last exactly seven minutes, is due to begin at 7:23 p.m.

    • The big tattoo begins at half past seven and is supposed to last 45 minutes
