  • Replace the progressive income tax with a flat tax at the single rate of 15%

We must get out of this fiscal stunner which strikes the French and particularly a category of French.

We can no longer stay in a system where 10% of people pay 70% of the tax

”, explained the deputy LR to

Le Figaro

to justify his shock proposal: to replace the progressive income tax by a“ flat tax ”in single rate of 15%.

"

I would like us to have a tax which contributes to the financing of public expenditure but does not prevent the creation of wealth

", added the candidate.

So, is Eric Ciotti's diagnosis correct?

Would it be possible to adopt a flat tax of 15%?

  • Abolition of inheritance tax, "a tax on death"

Another flagship measure of the candidate who won the first round of the LR congress: the abolition of the inheritance tax and direct donations.

A measure which would, according to him, be a stimulus vector aimed at promoting the circulation of savings of the French.

To defend the feasibility of his campaign promise, Eric Ciotti assured during the first debate between the candidates, on LCI, that 14 OECD countries, out of 38, had already deleted it.

So is the member correct?

  • Removal of land rights

Eric Ciotti has taken a position on a subject that has divided the right for many years.

The departmental councilor of the Alpes-Maritimes wishes to put an end to the land law, which grants French nationality to anyone born in the territory.

He joined on this point the National Rally and Eric Zemmour, candidate for the presidential election since Tuesday.

Migration issues are, however, governed by constitutional law and European Union law.

  • Prohibition of the wearing of the veil for users of public services

The councilor of the Alpes-Maritimes proposes to extend the religious neutrality, which is imposed on the agents of the public services, their users.

Today, there is neutrality, it is in the Constitution for civil servants in public services.

I hope that a user of a public service - in the hospital, in a social security counter - cannot go there with a religious symbol that is imposed on others,

”he argued.

Is this proposal legally feasible?

Valerie Pécresse

  • Raise the retirement age to 65

The president of the Île-de-France region wants to push back the legal retirement age to 65, instead of 62 today.

To defend her proposal, the LR Congress candidate affirmed, on France Inter, that “

the countries around us are all 65 years old, I think we have to go.

65 is the age that our neighbors remembered

”.

Is the former minister right?

  • Migration quotas by country set by Parliament

Valérie Pécresse considers it necessary to fix politically the number of foreigners that France welcomes each year.

To do this, the former member for Yvelines wants to pass

"a constitutional law to set migratory quotas by country which will be decided each year by Parliament".

But, legally, would it be possible for Parliament to set up these quotas?

  • Territorialize offenses to fight against delinquency

The candidate for the LR nomination proposes, in her program, to territorialize the penalties to fight against delinquency.

It would thus like to make certain particularly criminogenic places an

"aggravating circumstance".

The penalty incurred for the same offense would thus be heavier if it were committed

"in a place where too many are committed".

However, does not such a proposal break with the republican principle of the equality of all before the law?

  • Bring drug addicts together in closed centers to treat them

The president of the Île-de-France region is well aware of the problem of crack users in the north of Paris.

The candidate is campaigning for the creation of a

"detoxification center".

"We must be able to have treatment orders, of course,"

she added.

Proposals common to both candidates

  • Send the army to the neighborhoods to restore order

Far from being a new theme, the use of the army to restore order in sensitive neighborhoods resurfaced during the debates between the candidates for the LR nomination. Valérie Pécresse and Éric Ciotti are both in favor. "

We have to make punching brigades, where there will be police, customs, judges, and the army in support,

" said the president of the Ile-de-France region. The member for the Alpes-Maritimes would like the army to be able to be called upon in the context of "

whatever the cost of security

". Would it be possible for the army to be mobilized on public order missions against delinquency? Find our verification by clicking on the link below:
