Mexico and the United States announced a joint initiative to address the root causes of irregular migration from El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras, the Mexican Foreign Ministry and the US Agency for International Development (USAID) said in a statement on Wednesday. .

Under the initiative, called "Sembrando Oportunidades", USAID and the Mexican Agency for International Development Cooperation (Amexcid) plan to coordinate resources to help citizens in El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras "build a prosperous future in their communities of origin.
