In addition to contact restrictions for unvaccinated people and far-reaching 2G measures, the federal and state governments also want to discuss a possible general vaccination requirement on Thursday.

Cross-party politicians had ruled out the compulsory vaccination for everyone for a long time.

North Rhine-Westphalia's Prime Minister Hendrik Wüst (CDU), current chairman of the Prime Minister's Conference, has now admitted in the RTL / ntv program »Frühstart« that politicians have broken their word with regard to mandatory vaccination. “One cannot keep the word what one has given. There were also promises that were made against the background of believing that everyone would get vaccinated. That didn't happen, ”said Wüst. But now you have to deal with this situation, so Wüst. He advocated a "broad discussion" on the subject.

A “decision of conscience” and a corresponding vote on the compulsory vaccination in the Bundestag was correct, said Wüst and added: “It's no small matter, but we have to do it now because otherwise we won't get out of the loop of loosening and lockdowns.”

»That has to be discussed«

If the Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) has his way, the compulsory vaccination - if it comes - must not be limited to adults. "You have to discuss that," said Söder on Bavarian radio. "In general, it would of course be good if compulsory vaccination would take place at least for those who have already had the vaccine tested - from twelve onwards." That would be quick and the schools "make absolutely safe". In addition, his feeling with the young people is: "They also want to be vaccinated because they say: 'Then I have freedom'."

Politicians had ruled out compulsory vaccination for everyone for a long time, but now more and more politicians are speaking out in favor of it in view of the dramatic coronal length.

The traffic light parties SPD, Greens and FDP already want to introduce area-related compulsory vaccination for employees in hospitals and nursing - but recently Chancellor-designate Olaf Scholz (SPD) spoke out in favor of bringing the general compulsory vaccination to a vote in the Bundestag.
