Pope Francis arrived Thursday, December 2 afternoon on the island of Cyprus for a 48-hour visit, the first stop on his trip to the eastern Mediterranean which will then take him to Greece, an AFP journalist noted.

The Pope's plane landed at 2:52 p.m. (12:52 GMT) at Larnaca airport (south).
This is the second visit by a pope to Cyprus, a predominantly Orthodox country, after the visit of Benedict XVI in 2010.
